IMAQdx Software trigger not working

$

Hi,

I am using this equipment :

- Windows 10 PC with PCIe Firewire B-card

- LabVIEW 2015 + IMAQdx 15

- AVT Guppy Pro F503-B (Firewire B camera)

We are a machine building company, NI Alliance member and seasoned LabVIEW developers.

The camera supports software triggering, and this is working when using the camera with its configuration tool VIMBA from AVT.

However when I try to use the software triggering from MAX (or from LabVIEW), this does not work.

- The camera is correctly identified and is working well in free running mode.

- Under 'Camera attributes', I can set the trigger-mode to "Mode 0" (triggered).

- I can set the source to 'software trigger'.

- When I start the acquisition, The 'Execute'-button under 'software trigger' appears.

- However when I press the execute button, nothing happens. Then the acquisition times out after 5s with an error popup.

- The selector "Trigger activation" (level low or level high) does not make any difference.

I get the same behaviour when implementing in LabVIEW.

Do you have any advise?

Thx,

Thomas.

Converting 8x8bit pixel bus to 1x8bit

I have a PCIe-1473R-LX110 FPGA board. I've been using the "10-Tap 8-bit" example to acquire images off my cameralink camera successfully. Now I would like to do some additional processing on my board. Unfortunately it looks like most of the NI Vision FPGA functionality is restricted to 1x8bit pixel bus inputs (at least for the Virtex-5 chip).

How can I convert or "split out" the 8x8bit pixel bus so I end up with a 1x8bit pixel bus for processing? I can't just put my camera in 1-tap mode. That would not give me sufficient data rate for my application.

Taking a photo with USB webcam and comparing with more than one template

Hello everybody,

I'm currently working (starting now, actually) on a project that needs to do the following:

- Take one photo from a USB webcam;

- Compare with 6 differents templates (I attached two of them to show the complexity of the images);

- Show in an indicator which of the templates the photo matches.

The photos are taken with a steady tripod and in a closed area, so I believe the resulting snapshot would be pretty similar to one of the templates.

I have vision module with me, but I've never used it before and I'm having a hard time. Tried to use the "Golden Template" example, but did not succed.

May anybody enlighten me with some tips or a general architecture that I can use?

PS: If you know any material (youtube videos or even some written guides), please share with me. Unfortunatelly I don't have the condition do to the full course from National, so I'll try to learn by myself.

How to create my own IMAQ reference ?

Hello,

I'd like to comunicate with AR0132AT CMOS Digital Sensor.

I am experienced LabVIEW user but i never played with IMAQ tools.

I tried to detect if my camera was seen with MAX but without sucess.

Using LabVIEW 2016.

The CMOS supplier used to debug theirs images with DevSuite

http://www.onsemi.com/PowerSolutions/supportDoc.do?type=software&rpn=AR0543

Does it mean my CMOS sensor is not compatible with IMAQ driver?

If it is the case, is there a way to workaroud it ? Creating my own IMAQ reference ?

Any help will be apreciated.

Hi everybody. I'm trying to connect the iso out of IC3120 to an industrial continuous inket printer (coding printer), replicating a rotary encoder signal. The inkjet printer can accept either a totem pole signal, or an open collector signal (please see attached photo).

Can anyone help give suggestion on which wiring I should use? Thank you very much.

What mask size does the Canny edge detection use for calculating the magnitude?

Hi, everyone. The original Canny edge detection algorithm uses the first derivative of Gaussian to compute the magnitude. I need to implement the original Canny edge detection algorithm but I can not figure out what size of the mask I should use.
Or maybe somebody knows the idea of how this step is implemented in Matlab?

NIMAX application returns : IMAQdx error 0xBFF69000 not enough memory on Grab

$

We are working with a U3V vision camera that generates ~ 50 Mpixels (7920x6004) at 12 bits per pixel.

When we try to run a grab, we get an error message (see attached PNG):

IMAQdx Error:

Error 0xBFF69000

Not Enough memory

When we use smaller cameras or use this camera and configure a smaller ROI (e.g., 6000x6004), then we are able to grab.

The machine we are using should have plenty of memory to capture the frames.  What can we do to resolve this issue?  This is a stopping function.

About the NI Vision Assistant problem.

 Hello,

I have encountered some problem with "Geometric matching"  when I use the NI Vision Assistant tool . The problem description is shown below:

1. Here is my "Template image".

 2_Pattern_ampm.png

2. When I load the target image in NI Vision Assistant. It can't found any match pattern.

EnableOccludedRange.png

3. But when I disable the "Occluded", the pattern can be found with "Occlusion" 0%.DisableOccludedRange.png

If my understanding for "Occuled" is correct, the occluded setting 0~60% means that the NI vision Assistant should find the matched pattern with occlusion 0% ~60%

Why cancel "Occluded" the result can't be found?

How to detect DIP switches position

$

Hi,

I need to detect the position of DIP switches using NI Vision Builder. The method I have tried is first to create an intensity plane, threshold the image, detect objects and measure the distance between found objects. Then I try to deduce the position of the switch based on the distance between objects.
The main problems are wrong objects detected and not all DIP switches detected. Is there any other ways or suggestions how to approach the challenge? This seems to be a tricky one.

I attached four example images and vbai which I have tried.

Any help would be appreciated.

Using keypad for interfacing with CVS 1458RT

I was having trouble finding a touchscreen monitor I liked to use for using with my CVS 1458RT, so I was wondering if it would be possible to control the front panel of a program I have loaded onto the CVS using a number keypad that plugs into the USB port, and just have a regular display monitor for my output.  The only way I have seen to be able to control knobs and things on the front panel is with a mouse, but could you possibly replace that with the arrows on a keypad?  Also, if you plugged in a keypad, would the CVS even register the keys that you are pressing correctly?  My goal with this assembly is mobility, so I would rather not have to lug out a full-size keyboard and mouse along with the camera I am interfacing my CVS with.

Hello,

I have tried to search for a similar issue but didn't find any.

I'm trying to grab & record multiple cameras at the same time.

My code runs fine until I connect more than 2 USB cameras.

My camera model: Logitech webcam C930e

The VI is attached, could someone try to help me to figure out what can cause that ?

Fastest way to log images to disk during acquisition

$

I'm acquiring 8bit 800x600px images at 250fps continuously using the Imaq Image Acquisition Express VI. The VI is called in a loop and configured to read only the most recent frame in the buffer. I'm monitoring the loop execution time and I get at least 250 loop iterations per second. So far so good.

When configuring the image acquisition VI to log images to disk there's a warning about it affecting the maximum frame rate and sure enough when I enable logging I drop down to 50 loop iterations per second. So I was wondering what I can do to keep my 250fps. Data is being written to a modern SSD on 6Gbps SATA so I don't think I have a hardware bottleneck. Is there an image file format that will be faster to encode? Should I write AVIs instead of pngs? Should I manually create an image logging thread that buffers to disk (seems like a losing game if it really can only write at 1/5th the acquisition rate). Any other tricks I haven't thought of?

Hi,

I have problems with MAX and my GigE camera .  Is not possible to see camera into "devices and Interfaces" tree. The Camera is a Basler ace and works well with vendor's SW (Pylon5). Also Laptop's embedded camera is not shown into MAX tree . I already uninstalled all NI Drivers and Softwares (using also MSIBlast procedure as recommended me by an NI Application Eng) and then installed NI SW and drivers . I read a lot of posts but i wasn't able to solve my problems.

My Config is : Labview2103, Vision 2013 , IMaqdx 4.3.5 , IMAQ I/O 2.9 , IMAQ 4.9 . I have a HP ProBook Laptop .

In attached what I see with MAX .

Hello,

I bought a USB Camera DMC-1213 and I would like to use it to acquire images and videos through Labview. The camera comes with its own software and the driver was installed automatically in plug and play but unfortunately I can use the camera only through its own software called EZimage.

Could you please help me with a method to force Labview to recognize the USB camera?

Thanks,

Zied

Hi,

I would like to implement a vision inspection system that ensures a UUT is placed under the camera at the exact orientation every time without using test fixtures. Once it's placed correctly it will run its inspection for existence of parts. What is the best way to ensure the UUT is correctly placed under the camera?

Thank you in advance!
