Bug ReportL LV 2019 installation results in problems in exe released with LV/VDM 2018

Just wanted to post this heads-up warning for those of you who are developing with LV 2018 SP1 and VMD 2018.5 and planning to release executables.

I have installed LV 2019 64-bit to check out the new set/map objects and whatever new widget justified the new release number. Then forgot about it, as uninstalling it was involving a major perturbation of my system (notably because  it required uninstalling a number of prior LV versions, toolkits and whatnots).

The next time I released a standalone app using LV 2018 SP1 64-bit and VDM 18.5, the Image Control remained a solid black, showing no intention to display any kind of image. I tested this with the simplest possible VI (an image control with a button to load an image file) and confirmed the behavior.

I am still waiting for NI to provide a solution but have in the meantime decided to cut into the flesh and uninstalled all the 2019 stuff (and the require anterior stuff as well, unfortunately), reinstalled the 2018 part and seem to be back in business.

In summary: if you install 2019, your 2018 executables using the Image Control will NOT work.

Does NI provide, or have any plans to provide, GeniCam producer .cti file(s) for their Camera Link frame grabber cards (specifically for me, their NI 1433 card) for use with GeniCam/GenTL compliant Camera Link cameras?

About 12 μm detector of IRay Technology-Advantages & disadvantages

In March 2018, at the IWA2018 exhibition in Nuremberg, Germany, I saw the IRay’s 12 μm 640, 384 detector. After a year of contact with IRay, I successfully tried the latest 12 μm outdoor thermal monocular in the previous period. That’s really a super product ,  as far as I know there are some advantages with a 12μm detector for thermal monocular comparing to 17μm .

I did some tests with monocular with 12 μm detector plus a 25mm lens and the other one17μm detector plus a 35mm lens which is amazing,the observe distance is the same! And when they both use the 25mm lens, the observe distance of 17um detector is over 30% more than the 17 μm detector .

The material used for the 12 μm detector is VOx which has significant advantages than a-Si. NETD is less than 40mK, 14-bit digital output is supported.High sensitivity and easy to use,it keeps the primary competitive advantages of IRay products. Currently IRay 12 micron 1280×1024, 640×512, 384×288, and 256×192 full range detectors have been in mass production. The following is a specific description of the 12-micron detectors.

Resolution 1280×1024,12 μm

Features

  1. Super large FPA ,XGA high resolution detector;
  2. Frame rate up to 60Hz  ;
  3. Typical power consumption is less than 350mW;
  4. NETD < 40mK (@f/1.0, 30Hz, 300K);

5.14-bit digital output.

  1. Supporting detector Evaluation Kit (can be customized)

Resolution 640×512/384×288

Features

  1. Available with ceramic or wafer level (WLP) packages;
  2. 14-bit digital output;
  3. Frame rate up to 60Hz
  4. Under typical working conditions, the power consumption of 640 and 384 array products is less than 150mW and 100mW respectively;
  5. NETD≤40mK (@f/1.0, 50Hz, 300K);
  6. Support for TEC-less andshutter-less applications.
  7. Supporting detector Evaluation Kit (can be customized)

Resolution 256×192

Features

  1. 14-bit digital output;
  2. Wafer level packaging (WLP);
  3. Provide a standard I2C interface;
  4. Support 5V/1.8V standard voltage and support MCU-based application solutions;
  5. Under typical operating conditions, the power consumption is less than 60mW.
  6. Supporting detector Evaluation Kit (can be customized)

So products with 12μm detectors have advantages in size,weight,power consumption etc.

I heard that IRay will bring more 12 μm products to Laser-world of Photonics 2019 exhibition in München,Germany. If you have more information about them, please leave a message.

LabVIEW USB3 Pixel Formats

Hi all,

I'm trying to develop some control software for the JAI AP-3200T-USB camera LabVIEW. I've controlled other cameras fine before (even had to edit the XML files to get one to work correctly) but I cannot get LabVIEW to decode the pixel format from this camera.

The camera uses BGR12p pixel format, which is definded by USB3 Vision:
Pixel Name: BGR12p
pixel_format_id: 0x02240049
It takes 2 pixels (packed over 9 bytes) to re-align on byte boundary

I know it currently isn't in the list of supported pixel types (http://www.ni.com/product-documentation/54614/en/) but I could really do with getting this to work somehow. Does anybody have any advice or does anybody know if the pixel format is likely to be included in future releases?

Cheers Smiley Happy

How to Call OpenVINO directly from LabVIEW

OpenVINO evolves rapidly, however, LabVIEW can not catch up with it.

I failed to call OpenVINO C++ API from LabVIEW directly, Since I don't know to how handle the memory management from intelligent pointer of OpenVINO in LabVIEW.

Is anyone can help me to work out the method how to call OpenVINO directly from LabVIEW?

Thank you very much in advance!

1422 documentation

Hi  I am trying to resurrect a custom single x-ray photon counting camera system that has a 1422 frame grabber...

Yes I know it is no longer the state-of-the-art. I cannot upgrade as  there is no funding to buy new hardware.

I cannot find documentation---many of the links that reference it are "dead" eg in this thread:

In that link, I  also found this:  "What are the timing diagram re..."  is a dead link.
I need to know how to set the frame and line synchs on the enable lines.

I remember there were peculiarities in the device needing continuous pixel clocking even when line synch/enable

was inactive and that line synch had to be unselected for three pixel clocks.  This information is  not present on the users manual.

Help!!!

Thanks

Grabber card NI 1427 TTL trigger from encoder input

Hi,

I am using the 1427 grabber card.

I have the following setup, and I have failed to make the correct configuration in the NIMAX 18+.

  1. Encoder signal input from a servo amplifier.
  2. NI 1427 Grabber card should make a division on the signal
  3. The grabber card should generate a trigger on TTL_TRIG(0) pin, with this divided signal.
  4. This TTL signal should trigger a Line camera's line-trigger input.

Please guide me how to make this configuration in NI MAX 18.

Thank You, and BR.

Current solutions for grabbing composite video and external TTL ?

$

Dear all,

we have a client who wants to record one channel of video simultaneously with one TTL line in order to synchronize video with external systems (so the TTL line should be saved either as timestamps in the same timebase as the video signal, or otherwise the level itself can be saved digitally with the same acquisition rate as th video). This sounds like exactly what NI's products can do (please correct me if I'm wrong, I only have experience with analog and digital NI daq products). However the camera outputs composite PAL video only and it's not feasible to change to another camera due to it's price and features, and the NI cards able to grab composite video are all phased out it seems. What would be an alternative solution and has anyone experience implementing it?

Thanks in advance,

 Stijn

In labview vision assistant, how might I output real world coordinates from color location module?

Hello, I am working on a machine vision application where a colored light will be tracked from a USB camera. I currently have the NI vision assistant outputting the location of the color in terms of camera pixels (x=some number from 0 to 1920, y=some number from 0 to 1080) but I want real world measurements in terms of centimeters. I have added an image calibration module to define the number of pixels per centimeter, but despite this added module, it doesn't output the real world units from the vision assistant. How might I go about doing that? See attached screenshot for my current sequence. What am I missing? Thanks for your help!

Hi,

My problem is how can I show/hide and indicator (boolean) in vision builder based on an inspection step?. I mean I want to show a PASS indicator in the inspection interface on green if the step passes as good, otherwise I want to show the FAIL indicator on red if the step fails. Hope someone can help me with this issue and also if this information is enough to understand my problem. Thanks and regards.

TCP/IP communications across multiple inspections

I'm trying to communicate via TCP/IP between Vision Builder and python. There are multiple inspections in a loop with TCP/IP connections happening in each.

The first inspection works fine; from python I send "Ready?" and vbai receives and replies "Yes" and proceeds to the next inspection state where it awaits the second string from python... however this isn't working and the error is on the Vision Builder side. If I stop the program and test the TCP connections one by one (either by playing each inspection step or testing from within the TCP step setup) it works. Why is this not working while running the program?

IMAQ functions changing Image Types

$

Hello,

Here is my situation: in the code picture I am providing I am creating an image of type U8 (IMAQ Create). This same image is then passed through an image grab (IMAQdx Grab2) but the image type this second VI spits out is changed to an RGB type. It does not keep the U8 type.

Underneath the IMAQdx Grab2.vi there is only a call to the niimaqdx.dll that in turn calls its LV_IMAQdxGetImage2 function, an again when tracing it, the dll function does get a U8 as input but outputs an RGB.

The front panel shows the image types from each property node, the first as U8 (desired), second as RGB.

>>>>> I wish to keep the type as U8 <<<<<

Another side note, when the image wires are probed, an image is acquired for the RBG, but not for the U8.

Has anybody stumbled with this? Am I using a wrong dll? (I've downloaded the latest from NI)

Thanks

NI-IMAQdx - My recorded videos are "accelerated"

$

Hello

I building a modular VI for a friction welding testing machine.

The communication between the VIs is done with queues and notifications. Part of my code is attached below.

One of the "sensors" of the machine is a USB-Câmera (Logitech HD Pro Webcam C920)

But when I record videos, they are "accelerated". Example: If I record 10 sec video, when I play it in VLC, the video have 8 sec (approximately)

I'm using the FF Video Codec 1 (FFV1) (NI Vision) to write a .avi file, here's the subVI that start the video and the VI that record:

snippet 1.pngsubVI writeVideo2a.visnippet 2.pngsubVI write Video2b.vi

These subVIs needs to be separated from the VI that is grabbing the camera image, because several VIs can record video.

How can I write a good compressed video without being a "accelerated one"?
